Colomboh is an AI travel assistant for Asia, built around one idea: a traveller should be able to ask a question in plain language and get the answer a well-informed local would give — not a page of adverts. We publish researched, dated country guides covering the best time to visit, visas, daily costs, transport, money and safety, and we link to the official government sources behind every safety claim. Our deepest coverage is Sri Lanka, where we maintain city-level travel advisories drawn from the Disaster Management Centre, the National Building Research Organisation and the Department of Meteorology.

What you can ask
- Best time to visit — Asia does not have one season. Sri Lanka has two monsoons hitting opposite coasts, so there is a dry beach somewhere in the country every month of the year; Southeast Asia flips between wet and dry roughly six months apart; Japan and Nepal have short, crowded shoulder seasons worth planning around. Ask about a specific month and destination and you get the regional detail, not an average.
- Visas and entry — which permit you need, what it costs, how long it takes and the official portal to apply on. We always point at the government site, because the top search results for visa applications are usually paid intermediaries charging several times the real fee.
- Real costs — daily budgets in local currency and USD for budget, mid-range and comfortable travel, plus specific prices for the things that catch people out: airport transfers, park entry fees, train reservations, SIM cards and tuk-tuk fares.
- Getting around — which trains are worth booking a month ahead, when a car with driver is cheaper than the alternative, where buses are genuinely fine and where they are not.
- Safety, honestly — we report what official sources say and nothing more. If no warning names your destination, we say exactly that rather than calling it safe.
How our safety information works
Safety is where most travel content quietly invents things. Colomboh does not. For Sri Lanka we ingest official bulletins from the Disaster Management Centre, landslide warnings from the NBRO and weather advisories from the Department of Meteorology on a fixed schedule, extract the districts each warning actually names, and map more than 120 towns to their districts so that a question about Ella is answered with the Badulla and Nuwara Eliya warnings that genuinely apply to it. Warnings older than 48 hours are treated as stale, formal withdrawals are ingested alongside new alerts, and every answer carries the timestamp it was verified at and links to the source document.
Where no official warning names a place, we say "not named in official warnings" instead of "safe". It is a smaller claim, and it is the true one. Colomboh is not affiliated with any government body and is not a substitute for official travel advice or your own government's advisory.
